Last week Lindsey and I packed up the family and made another trip to the Conner Farm in Jacksonville to make repairs to the aquaponics system we built with Glodev.org several months ago. Before we left Lindsey and I spent our quiet time praying to God to reveal to us his plan. We felt the Lord moving and felt him preparing to make a big change in our lives but we weren’t quite sure what. We had already been invited to move out there and be facility managers for this system and it seemed that Jacksonville was on the horizon, but we wanted to make sure that these steps were God’s steps and not our own or anyone else’s. We asked God that if this was His will to share with us a little glimpse of his plan. And God came through in a big way!
Our own previous efforts to find a place close to the farm, within our budget and in an area that would allow for a farmer lifestyle had proved to be difficult and didn’t turn up any real prospects. But God had a place prepared for us and during this trip He showed it to us. A close friend of the Conner’s had built several homes in the area to sell, but due to the slow economy he was unable to find buyers and decided to rent instead. We made an appointment with him to see one of his homes and immediately saw just how perfect it was! In fact this place was almost identical to the place we have been living in for the past two years! The only difference is that this place is BRAND SPANKIN NEW with a dishwasher and an enclosed laundry room! No more standing out in the rain to do our laundry! God was revealing his next steps for us right before our very eyes!! So, on March 1st we will be moving to Jacksonville to start a whole new chapter in this adventure that God started with us over two years ago. We will have the opportunity to learn new farming techniques and will be adding to our tool box some very important skills that will prove to be useful as this journey continues. We will be able to bring to fruition some of the sustainable ideas that God has been showing us thus far. But more importantly we will see God take us through new levels of growth as He builds in us a character that is honoring and glorifying to Him! Until next time, stay faithful! Don
