Serving God Where You Live

Before Lindsey and I moved the family to Florida our small group from church wanted to make our last bible study together “Experiencing God” by Henry Blackaby.  We got a lot of good biblical understanding from this study but one thing really stood out to us the most and has since served us well...join Him where He is already at work.

Not all mission work takes place overseas. In fact we all step into the mission field every time we walk out our front door. If you look around you can find plenty of opportunities to serve and help those in need outside of your church building.

Here are a few programs that Lindsey and I have become involved with and helped launch over the last few months…

• Free For Fall – Last summer God put it on Lindsey’s heart to start a community outreach event with Northside Baptist Church, where donated items are given away to those in need. God truly blessed the event and it has since been discussed that this will become a yearly or biannual event with multiple churches being involved.
  
• Love House Ministries and Grace Café – A Saturday night church and outreach program in Zephyrhills where the homeless can come and get a hot meal, and hear a great message from God’s word. I have even been able to put my musical talents to use on the praise and worship team!
  
• Small Group Class –  Starting this month we held our first of a   series of FREE aquaponics classes\small group bible studies that we will be leading here in our own community! The idea is to get together, share a devotional, do some praise and worship and learn about sustainable farming through God's plan.
  

As we continue to follow God’s steps and involve ourselves in the    community, we see many more opportunities coming up to serve and teach others to be sustainable right here in our own backyard.
